As a husband/daddy and wife/mommy raising a toddler full of energy and who doesn’t have a helper or a yaya, things between our household, family and career lives can be pretty hectic, to say the least. It’s so easy to get lost in the beautiful chaos of our daily lives and it’s a challenge for our family to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stick to a wellness routine. Unhealthy habits like overuse of gadgets, poor diet and lack of quality sleep make us easily susceptible to sickness.
In an effort to reboot our lifestyle and to #BeHealthyInsideAndOut, Brian and I decided to tweak some habits, inject rest and relaxation and make healthier choices daily in what we eat and feed our #LittleAdamBryce, ingest and use in our bodies.
We now keep our family healthy by taking vitamins and food supplements to boost our health.
How do we survive parenting while working?
We are soaking up the last few moments of summer in the beautiful island of Coron, Palawan! This was a much-needed break for all of us.
As you may already know, both I and Brian have our respective work, careers and passion projects that we are busy working on. The common question of most of our friends or the people we get to chat with was “Where do you leave Bryce when you’re both working? How do you work when you’re with him?”
It never gets old! I still think to myself “Pano nga ba? San nga ba?” Haha! I’m still in awe and amazed how we survive our fast-paced, chaotic yet happy life?! Right, Brian?
After a few trips to the hospital earlier this year and a handful of cough and colds here and there, we’ve realized how important it is to keep our family’s health as our top priority despite our hectic schedules.
We’ve given our lifestyle a reboot and injected some healthy habits and here are some of our tips:
Health and Wellness Tips for the Family
Morning Routine. Upon waking up, drink two glasses of water. I like mine better with lemon.
Take your vitamins/supplements. I take a food supplement that’s high in Omega fatty acids and antioxidants (30ml serving of Organique Acai health drink), while Bryce takes Vitamin Gummies from Watsons.
Break the fast. Eat a healthy breakfast, the most important meal of the day!
Daily Workout. Exercise at least 10-15 minutes per day. I do an at-home workout with my Verv fitness app. I will share more about this in another post.
Don’t skip meals! No matter how busy your day can be, take a break and eat your lunch and snacks.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink at least eight glasses of water throughout the day.
Get enough sleep! Now, this is our problem because like I’ve said we are busy people. We extend our working hours until late at night. We all suffer including Bryce. Plus, I have insomnia. What we do now is that we set an alarm for “clean up time” and when I feel like I cannot sleep yet, I take Sleepasil. This one works wonders for me!
Visit your doctor for regular check-ups! I’ve done a series of lab tests for the past weeks (after about 5 years of no medical checkup!) and I’m anxious and excited to get the results to know that I’m healthy, overall.
Implementation! Our tips are not really new, but it’s all about implementing what we set out to do —to live healthier lives!
